The Air Transport Research Society (ATRS), the world’s leading organization for research on air transportation, will hold its 20th World Conference in Rhodes, Greece, 23-26, June, 2016. The World Conference covers all facets of the aviation industry, with presentations on airline strategies and operations, airport strategies and operations, air traffic control, aviation financing, and aerospace, among many other topics.

Three keynote sessions highlight the opening day of the conference. Invited speakers include leading figures from all sectors of the aviation industry, as well as top critical thinkers from the academic world.  A highlight of the opening day will be the presentation of the ATRS’s annual Airport Benchmarking Awards. These awards are based on a rigorous analysis of the operations of major airports around the world. In addition, the World Conference will feature 200 research presentations in concurrent subject-area tracks. Finally, on the social front, all delegates will enjoy networking at an opening reception and the conference’s gala dinner.

“I am pleased that the ATRS will be celebrating its 20th anniversary by holding its World Conference in Greece, at the same time as ATN is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The ATN was founded in Greece, and since its founding, the ATRS and ATN have had a close relationship.  Holding the ATRS World Conference in Rhodes will deepen our ties,” said Dr Kostas Iatrou, Managing Director of Air Transport News.

According to Prof. Martin Dresner, ATRS President, over its first nineteen years, the ATRS has held its World Conference in sixteen countries across five continents, with one of the highlights being the Society’s 2008 World Conference in Athens.  Dresner states, “We are very pleased that ATN has invited us to return to Greece in 2016 to hold our 20th anniversary World Conference, in conjunction with ATN’s own 10th anniversary celebration. Dr. Iatrou and his organizing team are putting together an outstanding academic and social program which, I’m sure, will be remembered for years to come.”
