Responsible Business Events top of the agenda in Copenhagen

A CSR-strategy implemented and brought to life in events, is a rare phenomenon. The new Responsible Business Events conference in Copenhagen aims to equip meeting planners with tools and strategic know-how on how to think and act sustainable, October 30th, back-to-back with the prestigious Sustainable Brands conference.

A survey conducted last year by Sustainable Brands, Positive Impact and Wonderful Copenhagen CVB shows, that even companies with strong Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategies or firms labelling themselves as purpose driven, often don’t have tactics on how to implement sustainability into events and meetings and fails to secure brand consistency.

To bridge the obvious gap, Sustainable Brands – the leading provider of CSR conferences globally, attracting thousands of conference delegates from all branches and company sizes, such as Unilever, Coca Cola, IKEA, Siemens and NovoNordisk – want to secure education on how business events can be strategically used to bring a company’s CSR and sustainability efforts to life. October 30th, the new stand-alone conference Responsible Business Events, arranged by two local actors – CSR LINK and IMPROVEMENT – provide a full-day of education on the topic back-to-back with Sustainable Brands’ Northern European conference in Copenhagen.

The business case on sustainability in events will be unfolded, and attendees will learn how to meet objectives and be more innovative and resource efficient by using a sustainable road map. They will also bring home ready-to-implement tools and tactics on advising clients or bosses, and motivate partners. To close the loop, content on how to create value and credibility by securing a clear connection between what a company says, and what it does, ergo brand activation, is provided.

The comprehensive program will be presented and facilitated by leading experts – from inside and outside the industry – representing among others the United Nations Development Programme, MCI Sustainability Group, Unilever Food Solutions, Carlson Rezidor, Bella Center Hospitality Group and the Event Industry Council. KoAnn Vikoren Skrzyniarz, Founder and CEO of Sustainable Brands, is a panellist in the opening session of Responsible Business Events. She says:

“Your brand is who you are, what you do and how you do it. If you claim to be committed to respect the environment, and you disregard the incredible waste that takes place in the meetings and travel industry, or don’t make sourcing decisions based on supplier environmental or ethical commitments, you are risking being seen as inauthentic, which is incredibly damaging to a brand.”
