FITUR Talent, the dedicated section organized by the International Tourism Trade Fair in collaboration with RRHHDigital and sponsored by Randstad, has unveiled the program for its upcoming edition, scheduled for Wednesday, 21 January at FITUR. Operating under the theme “Talent that transforms. Human capital as the key to the future of tourism”, this conference positions talent development, professional training, and workforce management as critical drivers of industry advancement.

The program will take place in the newly established Knowledge Hub within Hall 12 of IFEMA MADRID, a dedicated space showcasing cutting-edge innovations shaping the tourism sector. FITUR Talent serves as a strategic gathering point where tourism professionals, industry organizations, and students can exchange insights on youth talent acquisition and retention, human resources digitalization, and continuous professional development. The agenda also features emerging initiatives addressing employee well-being and mental health, inclusive and diverse leadership frameworks, and sustainable approaches to managing workplace absenteeism.

A conference that puts people at the heart of the tourism industry

The FITUR Talent program launches at 11:00 AM with an official opening ceremony introducing this professional summit dedicated to talent as a transformative force in tourism, providing an industry overview and contemporary context. The opening panel, titled “Tourism does not wait: keys to attracting and retaining talent”, examines current challenges in recruiting and retaining industry professionals. This session will analyze evolving labor market expectations, the influence of emerging generations, and the digital competencies demanded by today’s tourism landscape.

The keynote presentation “Redefining tourism from the people viewpoint: talent strategies for sustainable growth”, featuring Randstad leadership, will explore the essential role human capital plays in tourism development.

The panel discussion “Transform or disappear: the importance of ongoing training and the digitalisation of Human Resources” brings together training divisions, EdTech platforms, tourism enterprises, and HR directors to examine the imperative for continuous skills development and how digitalized HR processes enhance operational efficiency and competitive positioning within the industry.

The trialogue session “Caring for people: well-being and mental health in the tourism industry” focuses specifically on human capital wellness. This segment convenes HR specialists, psychologists, labor union representatives, and corporate wellness advocates to explore strategies that advance mental health, mitigate work-related stress, and cultivate healthy workplace cultures across hotels, travel agencies, and tourism service providers.

“Inclusive and Diverse Tourism: working for equitable leadership” positions inclusion and diversity as fundamental pillars of industry growth. Participating stakeholders will examine the implementation of policies guaranteeing equal opportunities and advancing inclusive leadership throughout all organizational levels.

The conference concludes with the round table “Absenteeism in tourism: diagnosis, causes and sustainable solutions”, spotlighting a major workforce management challenge confronting the industry. Comprising HR professionals, occupational health and safety experts, destination managers, and institutional representatives, this panel will investigate the root causes of absenteeism and identify sustainable remedies available to private companies and public organizations.
