2011 FIBA U19 World Championship for Men

This summer, from June 30 to July 10, three Latvian cities – Riga, Liepaja and Valmiera will host the prestigious 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship for Men.

“Phenomenal athleticism, outstanding talent, natural play and enthusiasm for the game straight from the heart. You can see and meet the superstars of tomorrow before they sign their multi-million dollar contracts,” point out the organizers.

Stars like Vlade Divac, Arvydas Sabonis, Vince Carter, Toni Kukoc, and Pau Gasol started their careers at U19 World Championships.

The 2011 FIBA World U19 Championship for Men will gather teams from 16 countries and five FIBA continental zones, featuring the world’s best young players born in 1992 or after.

Europe will be represented by six teams – Lithuania, Russia, Latvia, Serbia, Croatia, Poland. South America and North America will be represented by four teams – USA, Brazil, Canada, Argentina. Asia will have three teams – China, Korea and Taiwan – while Africa will be represented by two teams – Egypt and Tunisia. Australia, representing the Oceania zone, will complete the line-up.
