Record-breaking summer for Gothia Towers

July 2010 was an unusually good summer month for Scandinavia’s largest hotel. The 96.2 per cent occupancy rate was the highest ever for Gothia Towers, with its 704 rooms.

“We’re absolutely delighted. Trying to beat that will be a real challenge,” says Hotel Manager Charlotte Tellermark, who sees several explanations for the splendid result.

Apart from annual events such as football’s Gothia Cup and handball’s Partille Cup, Gothenburg hosted an unusually large number of conferences this summer.
As usual the tourist magnet Liseberg Amusement Park attracted a large number of visitors, as did the Green Day and Pink concerts at Ullevi Stadium. Shopping was also a big draw, with Nordstan shopping centre seeing 3.5 million visitors in July.

“Gothia Towers has many return guests, due to its location right next to Liseberg and because people like it here,” says Charlotte Tellermark.

The Gothenburg Culture Festival and Way Out West music festival meant that August was also a record month, and the packed conference schedule for the autumn indicates continued success.
