The Macedonia Section of the Women’s Organisation of Managers and Entrepreneurs (IAGME) of the Hellenic Management Association (HMA) held its first event at “The MET Hotel” in Thessaloniki on 1 March 2011, on the subject of: “Women’s Leadership: Investing in the Future”.

The purpose of the event was to explore women’s presence as leaders and in positions of authority, and to showcase the factors that make this a unique force in boosting a business and its management and making these more competitive, as well as a defensive advantage in times of recession and economic crisis such as Greece has been experiencing recently.

Eminent speakers participated in the event, including writer and MP, Mimis Androulakis; writer and professor at Athens University of Economics and Business, Dimitris Bourantas; Country HR Manager from Coca Cola 3E, Vicky Bouzouki; President of Focus Bari SA, Xenia Kourtoglou; President of HYPHEN SA, Giannis Stergis; journalist, Paschos Mandravelis; and British professor at Leeds University Business School, Nick Wilson.

The event was highly successful, as it was attended not only by women, but also by the people who make decisions and who need to search for immediate new supplies for the economy. The discussion panel included distinguished academics, market specialists, entrepreneurs, executives and politicians who attempted to outline the future of female leadership, highlighting the importance of women in science and business as a new developing economic power.
