Gdansk Convention Bureau promotional film “Gdansk & Region 4 in 1” received the Award for best screenplay during ART&TUR – International Tourism Film Festival in Portugal.

Film presents Gdansk & Region as attractive business tourism destination with its four unique selling points: amber, sea, gothic castles and Solidarity. Film was made in long version and four short ones.

Golden Rooster for The Best Screenplay is one of the main film awards during the festival. The Award, on behalf of Gdansk Convention Bureau, was collected by film director and author of the screenplay – Alicja Kosicka from Inspiros Consulting Group. Films were judged by the international jury from Portugal, Spain, France, Germany and Poland.

“All over the world cities are looking for pillars on which they can base their marketing activities. We are even one step forward. We promote Gdansk and Region with four business tourism products – amber, sea, gothic castles and Solidarity. We also use them in our promotional film”
 – said Anna Gorska, GOT/GCB CEO. “I am proud and happy of this award and that our efforts were appreciated. It is a huge success for us.”

It was the 5. edition of Art&Tur Festival organised in Barcelos, Portugal. City, located about 60 km from capital city Porto, is famous for its roosters (Gallo de Barcelos). Legend about rooster and pilgrim travelling to Santiago de Compostella is popular not only in  Barcelos. In hole country you find many souvenirs with roosters. In Barcelos, there are 25 monuments of roosters! The tradition is that the award winners get statuettes with roosters – different sizes and colour depend on category. These original awards, called also Tourism Oscars, are made by local artists.

“Films are important tool in destination marketing. Digital revolution and new technologies development are big challenge in promoting countries, regions and cities. I travel a lot and always take the camre with me” – said Alicja Kosicka,  screenplay author of victorious film. “At the moment I am preparing some next tourism projects. In the nearest future I am planning to make a short documentary film about my mother”.

The Grand Prix of Art&Tur Festival 2012 received film “Soulfood Serbia”. In few other categories some Polish films were also awarded: “Wildlife in the Heart of Europe” (1. place in category “ecology”), “Poland – Feel Invited” (2. place in category “active tourism and sport”) and “Torun – City of Festivals” (2. place in category “events, fairs and congress”).
