After helping guide Brisbane’s newest convention centre from its opening to a successful 16 months of operation, Sue Hocking – General Manager Venue, Sales and Marketing for the Royal International Convention Centre (Royal ICC) and Brisbane Showgrounds – has retired.

RNA Chief Executive Brendan Christou said Mrs Hocking joined the RNA in 2011 bringing with her 25 years of international experience.

“She has played a critical role in the success of the Royal ICC and managed the pre-opening set-up of the sales and marketing department and promoted the venue internationally and domestically,’’ he said.

“We have held more than 250 events since opening in April 2013 including major international conferences and national events.

“Her commitment to ensuring exceptional sales service has resulted in high satisfaction among our valued clients resulting in repeat business.

“We thank her for her efforts and wish her the very best in her retirement.”

Mr Christou also announced that Royal ICC National Business Development Manager Sally Pulford has been appointed as the new General Manager of Venue, Sales and Marketing.

Mr Christou said Ms Pulford was an original member of the pre-opening team for the Royal ICC, was highly regarded and had built strong client relationships.

“She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role and has been integral to the ongoing success of the Brisbane Showgrounds and Royal ICC as one of Australia’s pre-eminent event destinations.”
