The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) has seen a 34% year-on-year increase in the volume of bookings for association events in 2015 during the period from January to October, compared with the same period in 2014.

The London-based medical venue reports a particular increase in interest from medical and pharmaceutical related associations. In December last year, the RCP reported that 57% of all meetings held at the venue related to the medical and pharmaceutical sectors as a whole.

The RCP attributes the increase in confirmed business and enquiries from association event planners to last year’s high profile celebrations for the 50th anniversary of its Grade  1 listed building by Sir Denys Lasdun and the venue’s involvement in London’s Knowledge Quarter, an initiative launched in December 2014.

Natacha Allen, Sales and Marketing Manager at the RCP says: “We’re pleased to have had such success with the associations sector over the last 12 months. We’ve seen a great legacy from the 50th anniversary of our iconic building which we celebrated last year and the launch of the Knowledge Quarter has played an important part in the development of our offering in the heart of the educational hub.”

The Knowledge Quarter (KQ) is a growing partnership of 35 academic, cultural, research, scientific and media organisations based in Kings Cross, Euston and Bloomsbury in London. KQ was launched by the Chancellor, George Osborne on Thursday 4th December 2014 at the British Library in London. The aim of the Knowledge Quarter is to make the outstanding facilities, collections and expertise of its members understood, available and used as widely as possible for the benefit of researchers, creative people, students and the local community.
