+13.28% Increase in GDS Net Revenue and +2.09% Jump in ADS Net Revenue

Beat 2008 Figures, but Numbers Still Fall Short of 2007 Levels

DALLAS and LONDON, December 17, 2009: Pegasus Solutions has issued The Pegasus View for November 2009, which draws from global distribution system (GDS) and alternative distribution system (ADS) booking data processed by the company for more than 90,000 hotels worldwide during the month. November showed the first year-on-year increase in net revenue for each channel, with GDS, mostly corporate bookings, jumping +13.28%, and ADS, mostly leisure bookings, climbing +2.09% over 2008 levels.

Additionally, the report shows GDS bookings had the strongest comparative month this year. GDS gains, previously limited in the October 2009 Pegasus View to North America, have now spread to all regions globally. November 2009 is also the first month that all measures for the global GDS – net reservations, net average daily rate (ADR), net average length of stay (LOS) and net revenue – are positive compared to November 2008. . While these findings are encouraging, the comparisons can be complicated, according to Mike Kistner, CEO of Pegasus Solutions.

“We are enthused to see the recovery first evidenced in October’s Pegasus View for North American GDS bookings spread to other regions globally in November. However, as an industry, we are working to get back to and surpass 2007 levels, rather than simply meeting 2008 levels. To create this context for November’s data, we’re publishing comparisons to previously unreleased 2007 Pegasus UltraSwitch figures in this month’s edition of The Pegasus View.”

In fact, in the ADS channel, these comparisons show net reservations for November 2009 versus November 2007 actually rose +9.43%, but the slump in ADR (-29.34% versus November 2007) has put net revenue for the channel down -27.96% from 2007. However, when compared to 2008 levels, ADS net reservations and net revenues both returned positive results for the first time across the board in November 2009, at 18% and 2.09% respectively.

The Pegasus View for November 2009 is available in its entirety online and by free subscription at www.pegs.com. Data reported in The Pegasus View comes from Pegasus Solutions, the world’s single largest global processor of hotel transactions through the four GDSs and ADSs.
