Bit 2010 comes to an end in an atmosphere eager for recovery, as shown by the high quality of buyers present
and by the attention paid to diversifying supply and demand. Workshops strengthened the B2B role of the show, while special areas engaged with travellers, as proved by the increase in numbers with respect to the previous edition.
Milan, 22nd February 2010 – The best of Italian and world tourism on offer. This was the impression received by all those who, for business or pleasure, between Thursday 18th and Sunday 21st February in the fieramilano expo centre at Rho, visited the 30th edition of Bit – the International Tourism Exchange, which closed yesterday:  over 5,000 participants took part in the fair, coming from 130 countries over five continents.
A quality confirmed by the particularly high level of the 848 buyers profiled, who came from all over the world to take part in the 4 workshops: Buy Italy, Bit Buy Club, Bit Buy World e Bit Itinera, whose success contributed to reinforce Bit as sector leader, for its ability in taking the growing diversification and segmentation of demand and turning it into opportunities for operators.
Bit’s strengthened leading position is also confirmed by the numbers: a total of over 150 thousand people came through the gates. Worth noting, the figures for trade visitors, up 6% compared with the previous edition.
“A fair must be a generator for business and, in this sense, is constantly evolving” – commented Enrico Pazzali, Managing Director of Fiera Milano Spa. – nowadays Bit is a system that is active 24 hours a day for 365 days a year, to support operators in the integration of various instruments. Within this context, the four days of the fair are still key, but their function has to evolve, with the emphasis on quality. This is what we set out to do, and have done, in this edition. And feedback from operators confirms that we should continue along these lines.”
Great results also for Bit Sportland, the new Bit village dedicated to outdoor sports tourism, which interfaced successfully with the end user to communicate what was on offer here.  And was also an entertainment stop for crowds of visitors.
The 31st Bit will take place in the fieramilano expo centre in Rho, Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th February 2011.  For real-time information: www.bit.fieramilano.it
