More than 150 hot-air balloons of all shapes and sizes will fly over Bristol on 12–15 August. The Bristol international Balloon fiesta, first held in 1978, is recognised as one of the uK’s top five outdoor events.
Balloons take to the sky in mass ascents every morning and evening of the festival. during the nightglows at 9.30 on Thursday and Saturday evenings the balloons are tethered in the main arena and light up in sequence to music. The nightglow events are followed by fireworks.
The RAf’s Red Arrows aerobatic team will perform at 4.30pm on 15 August before the fiesta’s finale of a mass balloon ascent at 6pm, weather permitting.
More than 250 trade stands, local and international food stalls, a funfair and other entertainment complete the festival. it is a free event and attracts around half a million people to the hills of the Ashton Court estate on the edge of Bristol,
in the west of England.
