New meeting and training rooms will open at the Churchill War Rooms from 1 May 2010, providing additional corporate hire space at this historic site in central London. This brand new and air conditioned space offers modern facilities including AV and intimate adjacent break-out spaces for small groups and private meetings.
Along with the recently refurbished Switch and Harmsworth Rooms, the Churchill War Rooms gives clients the opportunity to hold a conference or event in a unique historic setting but with all the creature comforts of a modern venue. The rooms can be decorated with wartime dressing, including gas masks, billy cans, authentic trunks and sandbags, and waiting staff can be dressed in military and 1940’s dress.
Budget Day Delegate Rate
A budget day delegate rate has been introduced at the Churchill War Rooms which includes room hire, freshly brewed tea, coffee and Danish pastries on arrival as well as mid morning tea, coffee and biscuits. A selection of hot and cold bowl food is served for lunch and afternoon tea and coffee is served with a selection of delicious cakes. The day delegate package also includes access to AV equipment in room booked, half a bottle of still or sparkling water per person and sweets. This packages costs £59.50 + VAT per person and also allows guests the opportunity to look around the Museum.

History of the Churchill Museum War Rooms
The Churchill War Rooms, located by St James’s Park, is arguably one of the most historically important sites in the modern era. The historic rooms were created in 1938, as the underground storage areas of the Office of Works Building in Whitehall were converted to house the central core of government and to become a military information centre, serving the Prime Minister and the Chiefs of Staff of the air, naval and land forces. Intended as a temporary site, the rooms became operational on 27 August 1939, a week before the German invasion of Poland and Britain’s declaration of war. This ‘temporary’ but timely measure served as the central shelter for government and military strategists for the next six years.
The award winning Churchill Museum, opened in 2005, uses cutting-edge technology and multimedia displays to bring the exciting story of Winston Churchill to life. From Churchill’s childhood to his ‘finest hour’ and later years, visitors not only learn more about his political exploits but also his private life, successes and failures.
Housed within the Museum, admission to the Churchill Museum is included with tickets to the Churchill War Rooms.
