LONDON, June 30, 2010 /PRNewswire/ — Birmingham, Brighton and Blackpool Sea Life Centres will lead the UK in Shark Week from 24th – 31st July 2010.

James Burleigh, Divisional Director for the Sea Life Centres in Europe, says: “Research reveals many species of shark will be extinct within ten years, so Sea Life Shark Week will help visitors empathise with these awe inspiring creatures.”

Sea Life Shark Week will include a number of fun, interactive, family orientated activities that will suit kids from three to 93.

Educational talks will be held by the shark displays at each centre, including a ‘Super Shark Show’ where the genius Professor Elasmobranch takes on zany shark hunter Cap’n Slaughter.

Other centres will offer those with overwhelming shark phobias the chance to be hypnotised and overcome their fears, while kids will be able to solve a series of educational puzzles on the centres’ shark trails.

As sharks are able to detect a drop of blood in an Olympic sized swimming pool, other activities will include a smell stall where visitors will be able to smell how everyday aromas would smell to a shark, whilst other centres involved in shark training will present a special shark feeding display limited to Shark Week only.
