Russian tourists broke a record in Finland

The Russian tourists became the leaders in number of arrivals to Finland during the first 5 months of the year. Such results were announced by the Statistics Service of Finland. The tourist flow from Russia increased by 6% and amounted to more than 200 thousand people. As for May, 2010 indicators, it turned out that the month became a record breaking one for the whole history of Russian-Finnish tourism relationships.

747 thousand people visited Finland during the period from January to May of this year. Just to remind, in 2009 the tourist flow decreased by 10.8%. The share of the arrivals of the Russians from January to May, 2010 amounted to 27.4%. The tourist flow from Russia in May amounted to 20%.

The most popular regions of Finland among the Russians during the first 5 months of 2010 became Uusimaa (Helsinki region) (39%), Etelä-Karjala (20.7%) and Lapland (7.3%).

The average duration of stay of the Russians in Finland summing up the results of May, amounted to 1.7 nights. The average duration of stay in 2009 was 2.1 nights.

Just to remind, according to the Federal State Statistics Service, Finland took the 4th place in the ratings of the most popular countries among the Russians after Turkey, Egypt and China. More than 556 thousand Russian tourists visited Finland in 2009.
