Madrid, 13 September. The FITUR Congresses theme is being renewed to adapt its format to the demand of one of the most dynamic and fastest growing markets within the tourism industry, that of business travel. To this end, FITUR Congresses is being renamed FITUR MEETINGS & EVENTS, with the subheading of Business Travel Fair. This name combines all of the segments involved in this type of travel: meetings, incentives, congresses, expositions, etc., and encompasses a concept that is fully recognised by the international industry.

In addition to the name, FITUR MEETINGS & EVENTS includes various changes intended to make this year’s event even more competitive. It will bring together Spanish suppliers and international purchasers all in a single day, January 18, 2011, that will, as in previous years, act as a preface to the FITUR Trade Fair. Through this event, participants will be able to make the most of their time by having access to both representatives from the most consolidated markets as well as to potential clients from emerging areas in just one session. To this end, the Trade Fair schedule will be lengthened by half an hour, from 9 AM to 5 PM. Also increased, to 23, will be the number of professional meetings scheduled for every buyer.

FITUR MEETINGS & EVENTS, then, will highlight the quality of the international companies that TURESPAÑA, through its network of offices abroad, will invite to the event. This organisation will place special focus on the potential offered by these companies to transform the contacts made at FITUR MEETINGS & EVENTS into future investments in Spain’s convention market segment. Invitees will be able to benefit from the customary pretours hosted by the SPAIN CONVENTION BUREAU, during which they will learn of the business travel packages offered by six Spanish destinations. Along with the pretours, and to complement the activities of January 18th, professionals will also be able to take part in the social events being planned for them.

FITUR MEETINGS & EVENTS, to be held in Pavilion 14.1 at the Feria de Madrid, will be organised by IFEMA and hosted by TURESPAÑA and the SPAIN CONVENTION BUREAU, in collaboration with the Empresa Municipal Promoción Madrid and Turismo de Madrid. The event will be sponsored by Trapsa and the Asociación Empresarial Hotelera de Madrid (AEHM), or Madrid Hotel Business Association.
