A total of 11 UNISON conferences estimated to bring over £10 million of economic benefit to Brighton & Hove have been secured this week through a city wide bid. The events will see thousands of delegates from across the public sector convene in the city between 2011– 2015.

The conferences* will all take place at the newly refurbished Brighton Centre, which has recently undergone significant refurbishment with particular attention being placed on improving the public areas of the venue throughout. “The venue’s long standing relationship with Unison has also played an important role,” explains Debbie Matthews, Sales Manger, Brighton Centre and Hove Centre. “When UNISON comes to the Brighton Centre, it really is like they are coming home, everyone from our front line stewarding staff to the General Manager know the Unison team and are well placed to support them in the delivery of their events.”

Stephanie Grant, UNISON Conference and Events Managers, said: “Brighton is a great location and the Conference Centre offers the size and flexibility we need to suit our various requirements.  We have used the venue over many years and the staff are always helpful and a pleasure to deal with. The city is easily accessible with a good choice of hotels and restaurants.”

Darren Johnson, Convention Bureau Sales Manager, VisitBrighton concludes: “This is a fantastic endorsement not only for the city but also the Brighton Centre. We have all worked incredible hard to provide a product offering that is truly reflective of both the needs of the event organisers and their delegates – a strategy which is clearly working.”
