Calgary, Canada (9 November 2010) – The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) honoured three of its members with the title, “Volunteer of the Year,” during the second day of the association’s Canada Education Conference in Calgary (November 7-9).

Lesliann Kuhn, Director, Business Travel, Vancouver Hotels, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver; Christine Lessard, Global Sales Executive, Marriott Global Sales, Canada; and Karen Willsteed, Corporate Travel, Contract Performance Manager – Americas, Shell Canada Limited, received the accolades to much applause in a ceremony commemorating volunteerism Monday evening.

“These are the professionals that routinely go out of their way to advance the travel industry by helping ACTE provide the relevant, leading edge programming our members expect,” said Monica Hailstone, Regional Director, ACTE Canada.  “We are so fortunate to have such incredible community spirit here in Canada.”

All three honourees bring passion and meaning to the association, working in partnership with ACTE staff in a variety of capacities.  They play a critical part in making sure ACTE meets the needs of its members and fulfills its vision, and serve as outstanding models to others in the business travel community.

“Members such as, Lesliann Kuhn, Christine Lessard, and Karen Willsteed are one of the reasons this association endures and prospers,” said ACTE President Chris Crowley. “This association, and this industry, are fortunate to draw upon this caliber of executives and to honour them for their dedication, expertise and leadership.  We’re very proud to publicly acknowledge their efforts.”

Members who volunteer for ACTE are a diverse group. They are corporate travel managers, suppliers of business travel products and services and independent consultants. They live and work in different countries around the world, yet they all have one thing in common: a personal commitment to making a difference.  Contact canada@acte.org to find out more about ACTE volunteer opportunities.
