A comfortable experience for all passengers, regardless of their class of travel. This is the promise made by Lufthansa at ITB. It is investing some €2.8 billion to further enhance its product and service. After introducing a brand new first class in its new Airbus A380 with one of the most comfortable seats / beds seats in the industry, the carrier has started to retrofit Boeing 747-400s.

“We are offering first-class passengers two distinct options: a permanent bed and a seat with new colour schemes, as well as a new noise-insulating curtain. We now have the quietest cabin of any airline in the world. A more revolutionary product will be introduced with the delivery of the Boeing 747-800,” said Thierry Antinori, Head of Marketing and Sales at the airline’s traditional ITB press conference.

Lufthansa recently undertook a complete revamping of its economy-class cabin on both long-haul and short-haul routes. Other investments in passenger facilities include new lounges in Frankfurt, Delhi, Boston and Dubai, as well as the further development of internet on board.

“We are currently offering broadband internet on selected North Atlantic routes and further work to introduce it to the Middle East and to Asia,” added Mr Antinori.
