With festivals such as Glastonbury and T in the Park recently unveiling their headline acts, UK music fans are now pondering whether to stay at home or fly abroad for this year’s festival fix.

5. T in the Park, Kinross, Scotland (8-10 July) – £98 per day
Scotland’s annual knees-up boasts one of the world’s biggest line-ups with acts such as Foo Fighters, The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys performing, but despite no flights being included in the package it was still the most expensive of all the festival options.

3. Melt Festival, Ferropolis, Germany, 15-17 July- £85 per day
The unique backdrop of Melt, an open-air museum full of huge industrial machines, is an attraction in itself, as is the impressive electronic-meets-rock line-up featuring Errors, Plan B, Pulp and very cheap beer.

Topping our list for real value is the award-winning Heineken Open’er Festival in northern Poland, which features top bands such as Coldplay and The Strokes as well as cheap beer. Reasonably priced flights are also available to nearby Gdansk airport.
