W Hotels Worldwide Announces 2011 Symmetry Live Performances

Curated by W Hotels’ Global Music Director, Michaelangelo L’Acqua, Symmetry Live Will Head to Six U.S. Cities This Year

NEW YORK, NY – April 21, 2011 – W Hotels Worldwide announced the latest stops for Symmetry Live, the hotel group’s ongoing live concert series that showcases what’s new and next in music. Curated by W’s Global Music Director,Michaelangelo L’AcquaSymmetry Live features intimate, live performances at W Hotels across the country.  The 2011 lineup kicks off this evening (April 21st) at W San Francisco with an exclusive live performance by acclaimed British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding.  The series will then travel to W Hotels in New York CityChicago,AustinFort Lauderdale and Atlanta for exciting performances to be announced throughout the year.

“Music has always been an integral part of the W experience,” said Carlos Becil, Vice President, North American Brand Management for W Hotels.  “Symmetry Live not only provides a great platform for supporting emerging artists in the U.S. but also offers insider access to what’s new and next in music for both our guests and locals alike.”

L’Acqua chose to name the series Symmetry to demonstrate the balance between the distinct sounds of each artist and how they represent the symmetry between the W lifestyle, its worldwide destinations and international guests.  “In selecting the acts forSymmetry Live, I seek out artists that offer the world a new and interesting point of view in music, those who push the envelope of style and sound in a way that adds to the overall W experience,” said L’Acqua.

W Hotels launched Symmetry Live in May 2010 with an exclusive, high-energy set byJanelle Monae on the rooftop of W Hollywood, followed by a dynamic poolside performance in July at W South Beach by then emerging group Neon Trees.  In November 2010, W New York hosted Cee Lo Green’s first live U.S. performance of tracks from his smash album The Lady Killer, including the ultra-popular single “F**K You.” In addition, portions of Green’s music video for his chart-topping single “Bright Lights Bigger City” were shot at the hotel.
