RIU Hotels & Resorts opens its first urban hotel in Mexico tomorrow, June 17, in the city of Guadalajara. In 2009, after 56 years of experience in the vacation hotel industry, the chain announced the creation of its new line of urban hotels: RIU PLAZA. The first city hotel opened in September 2010 in Panama City, and now the second will be Riu Plaza Guadalajara in Guadalajara, the capital of the state of Jalisco.

The 5 star Riu Plaza Guadalajara is a modern 42-story building located in the heart of the city. The hotel offers more than 48,000 sq. feet of event space, and its 16 conference rooms have the latest equipment and an ideal environment for hosting corporate meetings and all types of celebrations for up to 1,700 people.

The hotel offers 557 guestrooms designed with a sophisticated décor in an avant-garde style. Rooms are divided into categories including Deluxe, Executive, Junior Suites, Senior Suites, Presidential Suites, and of course the extraordinary Penthouse, occupying the top two floors and boasting spectacular views of the city. Among other amenities, all guestrooms offer Free Wireless Internet and complimentary initial contents of the Minibar.

The hotel’s gastronomy will be one of its biggest attractions due in large part to the haute cuisine restaurant Chardonnay, whose recipes combine the freshest local ingredients with the most advanced culinary techniques, creating a menu that fuses Jalisco and Spanish cuisines. Dreams lobby bar includes a wide selection of international beverages complemented by traditional hors d’oeuvres and sophisticated selections like foie gras and Seranno ham from Spain. The international restaurant Decapolis features a full breakfast buffet, in addition to an elegant approach to Sunday brunch. Finally, the Blue Moon lounge bar located in the pool area invites with the most refreshing and relaxing ambiance in the hotel, and will have a complete menu of hors d’oeuvres and international cuisine.

Riu Class Executive Lounge is a relaxing area free for guests staying in executive rooms and suites and for Gold and Diamond cardholders in the chain’s loyalty program RIU Class. Here clients can peruse the latest news, conduct private meetings and enjoy the lounge’s complimentary luxurious amenities.

Guadalajara is one of the cultural and economic capitals of the country, and because of that RIU has foreseen in it a great opportunity to attract business travelers as well as those guests who seek out cities for leisure travel.

With the new line RIU PLAZA this hotel chain has incorporated its renowned service along with all of its expertise accumulated over more than half a century in order to create a new concept of modern, functional and elegant urban hotels where haute gastronomy and warm and professional service will amaze its guests.
