2011 has been a successful year for Christian Mutschlechner, Director of the Vienna Convention Bureau at the Vienna Tourist Board. After being admitted to the Convention Industry Council’s “Hall of Leaders” in June, he has now been singled out as the industry’s personality of the year 2011 by the world’s leading conference industry Web TV channel.

“International Meetings Review” (IMR) is the Web TV channel most heavily frequented by the international conference industry. The channel’s downloadable online reports and interviews currently reach an audience of around 400,000 subscribers world-wide. Its editorial board is made up of representatives of the major industry associations, including the ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) as well as leading organizers of major trade fairs, such as IMEX in Frankfurt and Las Vegas, EIBTM in Barcelona, ITCMA in Bangkok, and many others besides. Each year the board also acts as the jury that elects the “Meeting Industry Personality”, an honor that in 2011 has been bestowed upon Christian Mutschlechner, Director of the Vienna Convention Bureau, during EIBTM.

Also at EIBTM, IMR announced a joint venture with leading print trade media in the worldwide conference industry with effect from 2012. This will enable the channel to increase its audience to over 800,000 subscribers, whilst at the same time establishing an archive that will serve as a source of information to organizers of congresses and corporate conventions as well as industry providers (www.meetingsreview.com). Christian Mutschlechner was not entirely uninvolved, making use of long-standing personal contacts for this project.
