Czech Airlines to Commence Service to Ufa

Czech Airlines will begin operating scheduled service to Ufa, the capital of the Bashkir Republic in the Russian Federation, at the start of the 2012 summer flight season. The Airline is planning to operate 2 to 4 weekly flights to Ufa. The final flight schedule will be published in the upcoming days, as ticket sales commence. 

Czech Airlines plans to operate its first flight to Ufa at the beginning of the summer flight season, which begins on 25 March 2012. The Airline has already officially received carriage rights for the route. Ufa will become the sixth destination in the Russian Federation to which Czech Airlines will operate scheduled service from Prague. Currently, the Airline operates eight scheduled routes to Russia – three from Karlovy Vary (to Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Samara), and five from Prague (to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Samara, and Rostov-on-Don). The Ufa route will be the ninth overall.

“We have declared repeatedly that Czech Airlines will increasingly focus on markets in the post-Soviet region, where there is significant long-term potential. So far this year, we have opened three new routes to the region, and the fourth, to Baku in Azerbaijan, will be launched this Sunday. On most of our existing routes to the countries of the former Soviet Union, we have added new flights or increased seat capacity this year. The planned opening of the new route between Prague and Ufa is the next step in the fulfilment of our strategy and the transformation of our carriage network. In the 2012 summer season, Czech Airlines is planning further innovations and business activities on the local market,” summarises Jiří Marek, Vice President of Czech Airlines for Sales and Marketing.

Basic information about Ufa
Ufa is the capital of the autonomous republic of Bashkortostan in the Russian Federation, with nearly 1.1 million inhabitants, situated in the south-western foothills of the Ural Mountains. It was established in 1574 and gained the status of a city in 1586. It is an oil and petro-chemical industry centre of the Russian Federation; there are major machinery manufacturers in the city, such as UMPO – a producer of aircraft engines. This makes it one of the richest cities in Russia.
