Nice Cars is a new type of car rental service in Iceland that is changing the way car rentals work by giving tourists in Iceland the chance to try a real Icelandic and fully adapted vehicle with tires up to 38″.

PRLog (Press Release) – Jan, 2012 – For generations the Icelandic people have adapted their 4x4s to Iceland’s  unique geophysical conditions, such as driving on snow, crossing lava  fields, or crossing glacial water torrents. The extreme conditions in Iceland have made it necessary for the Icelandic people to adapt their vehicles as such.

Included in the adaptations are things such as increasing tire sizes up to 46” to increase the surface contact area on snow on glaciers (most are adapted to 38”), adapting the chassis and body to fit the monster tires, lowering the differential so the vehicles drive as they would with standard tires, using  air-lockers for the front and rear axles, and even adding an extra gear box for slow driving as needed when crossing heavy snow. Most of the trucks are equipped with extra fuel tanks and the newest navigation and radio systems.

Most foreign visitors have only been able to look at the trucks — not drive them. Most tourist operators have only offered visitors the experience as passengers, rather than getting them behind the driver’s seat of these trucks.

Nice Cars is a new type of car rental service in Iceland that is changing the way car rentals work by giving tourists in Iceland the chance to try a real Icelandic and fully adapted  vehicle with tires up to 38″. The company was founded by few a  friends that have traveled the Icelandic highlands and glaciers for  decades and have experience traveling in rough conditions. They  wanted to give tourists the chance to have the same kind of unique experience as they have.

All our staff are experienced mountaineers and will offer  valuable training on the vehicles’ operation. They offer to share their experience,  not only on how to drive the vehicles, but also on issues like what  places are of most interest to visit and what activities to do  while staying in Iceland.

Of course rent-a-monster is not for everyone, but the  owners still believe that the safest way to travel around Iceland is by driving a 4×4. Therefore the company officers all types of 4×4  vehicles for rent.
