Tourism Vancouver and the Vancouver Convention Centre are pleased to announce that Vancouver has been selected as the host city for three prestigious medical conferences taking place in 2015. All three conventions resulted from the leadership and dedication demonstrated by influential Vancouverites who worked with Tourism Vancouver’s Be A Host program to bring their associations’ meetings to the city. The latest batch of successful bid proposals includes:

World Congress of Dermatology. The world’s largest international gathering of dermatologists will meet in Vancouver in June of 2015. Attendees at last year’s meeting voted for Vancouver as their preferred host city over other top conference cities like Rome, Vienna and Bangalore. More than 15,000 delegates are expected to attend the 2015 conference, whose theme is “A Global Celebration of Dermatology.”

International Society for Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism (ISCBFM). In late June 2015, approximately 1,000 delegates will travel to Vancouver for the ISCBFM’s 26th symposium. The organization’s decision to hold the meeting in Vancouver resulted from a unanimous vote from its board in Barcelona last June.

International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) World Congress. The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada proposed a bid to host the FIGO World Congress in Vancouver during their 2006 meeting in the city. FIGO is the only global organization composed of both obstetricians and gynecologists, and will attract approximately 7,000 delegates to Vancouver for the October 2015 congress.
