For the second time in Poland, this time in Gdansk, the World Credit Union Conference (WOCCU) was organized. President Lech Walesa met participants during the congress.

The first World Credit Union Conference in Poland was organized in Warszawa in 2002. Apart from Warsaw also Barcelona, Hongkong, Dublin, Rome, Calgary, Brisbane and Paris hosted the conference in past. Gdansk was competing with top conference destinations to host the event to host the event. The 2012 conference was held under the name “Let’s Gdańsk”.

Conference that was held in Polish Baltic Philharmonic Hall lasted 4 days (15-18 July). Discussion and sessions were mostly focused on crisis in the bank sector and its impact on credit unions. Top professionals of the financial sector and credit unions took part in the debate. Within the conference the World Women Leadership Forum was held. The forum concerns women’s involvement in local communities development.

From the very begging Gdansk Convention Bureau (GCB) / Gdansk Tourist Organisation were actively involved in the event. GCB representatives and volunteers welcomed congress’ delegates at Lech Walesa International Airport. There was a Welcome Desk waiting for arriving guests. Convention bureau also arranged Tourist Information Point in Baltic Philharmonic Hall and provided promotional materials for all delegates. The guests had a chance to use audioguide devices (sponsored by GCB). Thanks to them they could explore Gdansk and Region on their own. For many of delegates it was the first trip to Poland.
