The Santorini Biennale of Arts announces the “Design a wish for Greece” International Poster Competition, a parallel project that aims to support the image of Modern Greece around the world.

THE REASON

Looking back to all those articles of the latest years the world press published about Greece and its economy, you can realize that our reputation as country and as people depends from them. There are articles reffering to the tryptic of the Greek economy, politics and society but the big part of them serve mainly the interests of some economic power centers or in other cases they just earn some internet publicity with “how unable we are!”.

Scams by politicians and citizens, poverty, hunger, low living standards, dieback, poor and bad quality tourism services, damaged social psychology, suicides due to financial problems and violent facts are given to the press with a certain “study” aiming to anticipate a total fall. Not only an economical but mainly a fall of our digninty and prestige. Of course all above is true that are happening but the way they are expressed create a racism that starts from our economic situation.

it is unacceptable that the Greeks are considered today as people of lower class and they are treated with suspicion internationally! Artists and professionals of the artistic envoronment know well that the message the art produce can have a significant role in changing this!

The “Design a Wish for Greece” project aims to fight the humiliation Greece suffers today and aims to show to the world that helping our country to retrieve its glory is an important action of dignity and solidarity. And is not an action like this only for Greece but also for all those people and countries that today they feel weak in front of the storm of the economic or military “power”.
