Earlier in the year readers were asked to vote for their favourite UK city in the 15th Annual Readers’ Travel awards with London taking the top spot on the podium beating 14 other cities.

Other award winners included Edinburgh who took second place for its architectural offering and Cambridge who achieved third place, scoring highly for culture.

Once again, 14 of the top 15 UK business hotels voted in the awards can be found in London, as well as the UK’s new number one hotel spa, which is a recent addition to the capital’s extensive offering – the ESPA Life at Corinthia Hotel.

The CEO of London & Partners (the Mayor of London’s promotional organisation for the capital) Gordon Innes  collected the award at the ceremony held at the British Museum. He said: “London has much to be proud of in this magical year. This latest accolade from readers of Condé Nast Traveller highlights that there has never been a better time to visit the capital as we now turn our attention to convert the billions of people who watched and experienced London this summer into future visitors, students and investors.”
