49th International Conference & General Meeting of IYHF was held from 9 to 12 July 2012 in Hotel & Convention Centre Habakuk.
International Youth Hostelling Federation selected Terme Maribor Hotels & Convention Centre for its bi-annual event. About 200 participants met in 2012 European Capital of Culture, Maribor, Slovenia.
The project, which incorporated more than a year’s preparation work and several inspection and work visits of Hostelling International Event management team, became one of the biggest events taking place in this years’ Maribor conference calendar. Participants were accommodated in Hotel Habakuk 5*, Hotel Bellevue 4*, Hotel Piramida 4* and Hotel Orel 3*.
Most stays in Slovenia were for 4 nights or more. A cable car took the participants to the welcome event at Pohorje slopes where they experienced local traditional cuisine with international flair. They could feel the town’s atmosphere and heritage during social programme at float and boat ride on the Drava River and dinner in the biggest wine cellar in Maribor – Vinag.
