-Following record wet weather in 2012, the leading holiday retailer has received increases in bookings from Northern Europeans ahead of next year’s summer holidays-

TUI Travel, which owns Holiday Hypermarket and other leading UK travel vendors, has announced increased bookings from Northern Europeans, particularly customers in the UK, the Nordic region and Germany, ahead of next year’s summer holidays.

Following an eight per cent rise in annual pre-tax profits this year to September 30, TUI Travel hailed an “outstanding performance” by its UK businesses. Growth in early summer bookings for next year ranges from between nine and 16 per cent in Northern European markets.

Peter Long, TUI Travel Chief Executive, explained that the increases were due to an upsurge in sales of the company’s higher priced package holidays. TUI Travel has seen resurgence in demand for all-inclusive package holidays – particularly those that include bed and board in their prices.

Calum Macdonald, E-Commerce Manager at Holiday Hypermarket, comments: “All-inclusive package holidays provide great control for people who are managing their budgets carefully

and who want to get their money’s worth on a luxury holiday to a well-known summer destination.

“We’re pleased with the volume of holidays that have been booked this winter, and we’re looking forward to what – according to trends – looks like a strong summer season next year.”
