Dubai: Nine Hotels and Restaurants competing in seafood specialties at the Diving Village

Following on from the success of the heritage activities at heritage sites, hosted by the department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing. A seafood competition was organized by the management of the Diving village within the scope of events for the Dubai shopping festival 2013, and is the first of its kind in its respective field.

The competition was between hotels and restaurants specialized in the field of seafood platters. The hotels and restaurants were competing with variety of (Al Sheri fish) platters, prepared in different ways to meet a high quality standard of cuisine.
Nasser Juma Bin Sulaiman, Director of the Diving Village commented on the event that this competition is a fantastic opportunity for Hotels and Restaurants for the high quality of fine dining and seafood cuisine giving the exposure to the Dubai Shopping Festival visitors. He also added that it was a successful event that captivated the audience in which hotels and restaurants were competing to please the public.

The line of Judges included: The Department of Tourism and Commerce employees, Mariam Essa (Chairperson of the committee), Anas Al Ablam (Member of the committee), and Naima Alhajiry (Cultural consultant), with volunteers: Mohammed Khamis, Hajir Al mazim and Noura Ali.
Mariam Essa commented “The competition was severe and we were extremely cautious to make sure every party was judged fairly in both preparation and presentation”. She added “Our roles were very difficult and precise due to the high quality of platters prepared.”
Stanley, the organizer of the Seafood Cuisine event commented “we contacted all hotels and restaurants to come and participate, and thanks to them that it was such a winning event, it’s an absolutely amazing feeling to have won. It makes all of the hard work we have put in this competition.”
