NYC Company Announces Reservations Open for NYC Restaurant WeekNew York City (January 7, 2013) — NYC & Company, New York City’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, announced that reservations for NYC Restaurant Week Winter 2013 open, January 7. The popular dining event will offer guests 20-plus days of dining deals from January 14 to February 8, 2013, Mondays through Fridays, with Saturdays excluded and Sundays optional. Pricing has slightly increased for the first time since 2006, and will be $25 for three-course prix-fixe lunches and $38 for three-course prix-fixe dinners (excluding beverages, gratuities and taxes). Diners can begin to make reservations at more than 300 participating restaurants at nycgo.com/restaurantweek.

NYC Restaurant Week is the first and largest dining program of its kind supporting the City’s thriving restaurant industry, which employs over 200,000 people and grosses annual sales exceeding $12 billion. New York City offers more dining options than most states, boasting 24,000 restaurants and food service establishments.

NYC Restaurant Week was created in the summer of 1992 with 95 participating restaurants. Since then, the event has grown to include more than 300 participating restaurants and has paved the way for similar dining promotions to be established in cities around the world, such as London and Lisbon, and across the country, including Los Angeles, Seattle, Kansas City, Chicago and Boston.

Consumers’ enthusiasm for the program remains strong. According to OpenTable, through NYC Restaurant Week online reservations, more than 490,000 diners were seated during the 2012 promotion—about a 26 percent increase year over year.
