This March, the Estonian Convention Bureau will hit its five-year mark and will be able to look back at a half-decade of successfully matching up local conference organizers with foreign partners.

“In the time since the ECB began operation, the nation’s conference tourism sector has seen a boom. Its position in ICCA rankings rocketed from 118th place to 41st, and we see great potential for future growth,” said the organisation’s Managing Director Kadri Karu.

The launch of Conference Ambassador Programmes in Tallinn and Tartu have proven to be great initiatives for encouraging local specialists to bring their events to Estonia, she added.

As the umbrella organisation for conference tourism in Estonia, the ECB has also played a lead role in representing Estonia at numerous international fairs as well as organising networking events all over Europe.

The ECB was established 2008 by the Estonian Tourist Board/Enterprise Estonia, local municipalities and private companies, all of whom finance the bureau.

“We are proud to be such a great example of private and public sector partnership, and we are looking forward to developing the nation’s conference sector even further over the next five years and beyond,” said Karu.
