aeroflot-uniformAeroflot is flying high in the style stakes after being voted ‘Europe’s most stylish airline’ by Skyscanner users. The Russian operator came out on top in a poll of over 1,200 air travellers, who rated each airline’s uniform on a scale of one to five.

This follows Skyscanner users’ verdict that the Russians are one of the least stylish nations, as voted in another recent poll. But when it comes to looking good at 35,000 feet, Aeroflot cabin crew strut their stuff all the way to the top of the rankings. Perhaps it’s those red uniforms that earned them poll position?  Or maybe voters had seen recent publicity surrounding the latest edition of Aeroflot’s cabin crew calendar, so racy it would make Ryanair’s calendar girls blush.

While the Russians may have put their best fashion foot forward, British Airways, flying the flag in red white and blue, came in a close second overall.

In fact, one British budget airline also fared remarkably well, withFlybe just failing to make the top five but still taking a fashion-forward sixth place. Perhaps Kelly Brook’s recent promotional campaign for Flybe’s new in-flight entertainment programme helped boost the airline’s style rating?

German airline Lufthansa, with its blue suits and yellow scarves, pipped the traditionally chic French into third place, while Finnish airline Finnair has the finesse to finish as the fifth most stylish European airline.

Skyscanner’s Russia Manager, Tatiana Danilova, commented: “Russian cabin crew are well-known for being very glamorous, and it is a well-respected and much sought after profession. It’s reassuring to see that after failing to be recognised for our general fashion sense, our Russian cabin crew are flying the flag and showing that Russians are extremely style savvy!”

Most stylish airlines:

1. Aeroflot
2. BA
3. Lufthansa
4. Air France
