Rome, March 2013 – Alitalia focuses on London City Airport and, with the commencement of the summer timetable at the end of March, will increase its frequencies to and from the local airport of London’s financial district.

From 31st March, Alitalia will introduce a third daily flight (operating Monday to Friday) between Milan Linate and London City airports. Alitalia will operate one service on

Saturdays and two services on Sundays between the two city airports. The new service departs from Milan Linate at 18.30 hours adding to the two other flights  which depart from the Milanese city airport at 08.40 hours and 15.55 hours. From London City Airport, the third new service departs at 20.00 hours local time following the two services which depart at 10.10 hours and 17.25 hours (local time). The new times will further enhance the possibility for business customers to travel to and from the two cities within the day.

From 1st April, Alitalia will commence a new service between Rome Fiumicino and London City Airport. The daily flight, with the exception of Sunday, will depart from Fiumicino at  09.30 hours arriving in London at 11.10 hours local time. From London City, the flight will depart at 11.40 hours local time arriving in Rome at 15.20 hours.

All the Alitalia services to London City Airport will be operated by the new Embraer E-190, one of the few aircraft certified to land at City airport. The new Embraer E-190 aircraft have a capacity of 100 seats with a 2 by 2 configuration. The absence of the middle seat and the ‘slim-line’ leather seats guarantee maximum comfort for all passengers. Two classes are available: Ottima (business class on Alitalia’s international routes) and Classica (Economy class).

London City Airport, is the airport of choice for London’s financial district, and is located in the Docklands area, a few minutes away from the City of London and Canary Wharf which can easily be reached by taxi or Docklands Light Railway. The airport boasts the fastest check-in procedures, boarding and disembarkation of passengers of all the London airports.

London City Airport offers complimentary Wi-Fi internet access and numerous workstations to all passengers throughout the airport.

The 24 weekly flights from London City Airport operated by Alitalia are in addition to the 48 weekly services which the company offers from Heathrow (of which 21 are to Rome

Fiumicino and 27 to Milan Linate). In total, Alitalia operates 72 weekly frequencies from London.
