London & Partners, the Mayor of London’s official promotional organisation, launched(March 8th) a competition to scour the US and find the next big tech company looking to invest in London.

Imagine your business in LondonForming part of London & Partners’ global B2B campaign, Imagine London, the competition was launched at Austin’s South By Southwest Festival (SXSW) which is known as an innovator’s interactive playground.

The competition will offer one lucky entrepreneur an exclusive business trip to London including a bespoke business programme hosted by London & Partners to showcase the city as the world capital of business. The programme will be hand-tailored to the tech business winner to highlight the vast array of investment opportunities and benefits London offers as a location to launch their company globally.

David Slater, Director of Trade & Investment at London & Partners said: “As a city that prefers to innovate and enhance not duplicate and stand still, London is always on the look-out for savvy and forward-thinking entrepreneurs that can see the benefits of the capital as a launch-pad to the world. This competition enables us to bring London to those key innovators and invite them to be part of the huge growth we have seen over the past few years for digital start-ups in the capital – both in Tech City and beyond – and to become part of the beating heart of the largest growing technology market in Europe.”

Including return flights to and a stay in the capital, on the ground business advice, visits to key areas of London as well as introductions to key players in the technology industry, the prize could lead to the start of something big for the selected savvy start-up.

The total prize package includes:

  • Flights from any of British Airway’s 20 US gateway cities to London, kindly provided by British Airways
  • A two night stay in the Guoman Hotel, central London, kindly provided by Guoman
  • A bespoke business tour of London tailored to your expansion requirements, hosted by London & Partners
  • Meetings with professional service advisers who can guide you through the steps you need to take to set up business in London

Tasked with attracting and delivering value to businesses coming to the UK’s capital, London & Partners hopes the competition could find the next Steve Jobs or Jimmy Wales, and build on London’s growing reputation as the “Digital Capital of Europe” as well as show off its credentials as a centre of talent and creativity.

The London & Partners team will be at SXSW to offer advice and to search for growing US businesses. More information on the competition and how to enter can be found at www.londonandpartners.com/sxsw
