ABPCO, the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers, today announces plans to host its first TechNOphobia event to be held in Scotland on June 19th at the Carlton Hotel, Edinburgh entitled ‘Social Media – Building a strategy to engage your audience’.

This latest TechNOphobia workshop will explore a range of social media tools and look in particular at the management platforms to assist with developing a cohesive social media strategy as part of the marketing mix for events from the outset.  Social Media Scientist Allan B Beaton will explore tools and strategies while Katie McPhee, UK Community Manager for Eventbrite, will discuss ways in which event registration can leverage social networks for an optimised approach to online event communication.

Organised by ABPCO Executive Board Member Martin Jack of Think Different Events Ltd, the event is open to ABPCO members free of charge and to guests of members.  The event is supported by ABPCO Corporate Members Puma Hotels.

ABPCO Chair Jennifer Jenkins commented: “Technology for events is a fundamental part of our remit now as PCOs, agency or in-house, and it is crucial that we get to grips with how we can leverage what is available to make the most of our conferences and events.  Social media is well established as part of the mix nowadays, but there is still a lack of understanding of how best to integrate these channels for optimising event marketing.  Our next TechNOphobia will address some of these issues in a practical session as with our previous events in the series.  We are delighted to be hosting this first TechNOphobia in Scotland and are grateful to Martin Jack for organising this event.”

Launched in June last year, the TechNOphobia series was created to provide event organisers with practical insights into technologies and tools that are an increasingly fundamental part of organising conferences and events.  Previous TechNOphobia workshops have covered audience interaction tools using iPads and hybrid technologies.
