The Mermaid - Upper river roomThe Mermaid completes £600K refurbishment of events spaces

Following an investment of £600,000, events and conference centre, The Mermaid, has successfully completed the refurbishment of its river rooms, overlooking the Thames.

The investment, which has taken place over the summer, has resulted in the upper and lower river rooms being re-styled with an open-plan layout, featuring new contemporary furniture and LED lighting, finished with dark wooden floors.

Furthermore, the venue’s kitchen has been moved, resulting in an increase in covers for seated dinners. The lower river room, which before had a total capacity of 80, can now cater for 180 people, and the upper river room, earlier at a 140 capacity, is now available for up to 320 guests.

The river rooms’ panoramic windows span the length of the spaces, framing views of the Thames, including the sights of the Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe and The Shard. Ideal for receptions, private events, dinners and Christmas parties, the spaces are self-contained, and can be hired individually or together.

Alicia Duncan, General Manager at The Mermaid, comments: “The river rooms command some of the best views of London, and with the new, contemporary design, we are confident that they will be even more appealing to event organisers. The extensive investment in the spaces is part of our on-going plans to further strengthen our market presence and help us approach new customers.”
