You’ll find everyone here, old and young, large and small: the Vienna Magic of Advent is a fixture for residents of Vienna and visitors in the pre-Christmas period – a winter fairytale in the middle of the city.

From 16 November to 24 December, guests from near and far can once again enjoy the Viennese Christmas fairytale: situated right on the magnificent ring road, for decades the Vienna Magic of Advent has been a pre-Christmas fixture for young and old alike. The distinctive atmosphere at the town hall square invites you to shop for Christmas presents, stroll or unwind from the hectic pre-Christmas routine.

The scent of gingerbread cookies, chestnuts and roasted almonds along with the extensive selection of gifts and decorations in the marketplace whet the appetite and encourage shopping. The festive concerts and musical presentations in the ballroom of the town hall are the perfect prelude to Christmas. And the festively lit Christmas tree against the spectacular backdrop of the town hall as well as the children’s programme in the Volkshalle all make this a special experience for the entire family. Here, under expert guidance, you can bake and tinker to your heart’s content. With a bit of luck, the Viennese “Christkindl”, comes round and delights both young and old with Christmas stories.

On the celestial stage in the centre of the Christmas market celebrities will this year for the second time tell their personal Christmas stories – every Monday through Thursday at 6:00 pm. A foray into the lovingly decorated park is not to be missed. From pony rides and the nostalgic merry-go-round for the little ones to the Post Office in the Clouds and on to the romantic whispers under the Little Heart Tree, you can really leave your everyday routine behind.

Brochures for the Vienna Magic of Advent are available at no charge starting in September at branches of the Austrian Tourism Board or at the Viennese Tourist Board at their customer service number +43-1-24-555; fax: +43-1-24-555-666.
