Ice sculpture festival in JelgavaThe Jelgava International Ice Sculpture Festival, the biggest event of its kind in the Baltic States, will gather the best artists from dozens of nations February 2-9, 2014. Be among the thousands enjoying the opportunity to see these unique works – whose lifespan, alas, is only a few weeks.

The festival in Jelgava will be taking place already for the 16th year. Since the festival began, it has grown and evolved both artistically and organizationally, gaining recognition and excellent reviews among international artists and other festivals. Every year the festival brings together more than thirty renowned professional sculptors and artists from all over the world.

Over 50 ice sculptures will be created to the theme of this year’s festival – “Wonderland”. Every person has its own “Wonderland” in their fantasies. Some see this up in the sky, some see it in their dreams, and some see this “Wonderland” associated with their favorite childhood story-book characters.

Those in the competition for prizes will have access to tons of crystal-clear artificially frozen ice. There will also be wintry activities for children, concerts and shows for all. Weather permitting, the sculptures will remain on display in Victory (Uzvaras) Park for 10 more days after the conclusion of the festival.
