INDIANAPOLIS, May 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Long-Sharp Gallery presents “Picasso to Pop: Part Deux” at the Fifth Annual Masterpiece London, June 26 to July 2, 2014. One of 15 US exhibitors, art dealer Rhonda Long-Sharp will be exhibiting solid postwar and modern masters including Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Robert Indiana. Warhol, whose portrait series fetched the top sale at Sotheby’s New York auction in May, is among featured artists with a never-before publicly offered painting of Jon Gould.

MasterpieceLondon2014The most photographed of Warhol’s oeuvre, Gould, a wealthy Paramount executive, was the artist’s romantic obsession in the 80s. Now fresh to the market, Long-Sharp Gallery introduces Jon Gould (1981), a portrait painting authenticated by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.

Earlier Warhol works in the Masterpiece selection include a series of ad suites with Mobil Gas and Volkswagen, and six original drawings on paper (circa 1954). Haring’s Pyramids screenprint on anodized steel (from the edition of 30, 1989) will be exhibited alongside Picasso’s rare L’Egyptienne (1935) and La Femme a la Fenetre (1952).

In a nod to America’s Heartland, audiences can anticipate Indiana’s original painting Hope (2008). The most recent and largest retrospective of his work to date, “Beyond Love” at the Whitney Museum of American Art underlined the vision of a bold postwar America and the complexities of the artist’s visual language. This significance is not lost on Long-Sharp Gallery, which is headquartered only 45 miles from Indiana’s birthplace. Pop-inspired contemporaries David Datuna (USA), and Russell Young and Wayne Warren (UK), will also be on view.
