Following the appointment of Jackie Boughton as the Barbican Centre’s Head of Sales last month, Oliver Hargreaves has been promoted to Deputy Head of Sales.

“The Barbican’s focus on events that seamlessly blur the lines between the commercial and cultural worlds makes it a fascinating and exciting place to work,” said Oliver Hargreaves. “Knowing that instead of selling space I am selling a concept and ensuring the success of client events is really rewarding. Our arts and creative learning programme, and technical expertise mean the Barbican is so much more than just a venue – it is something both the Barbican team and our clients can delight in experiencing.”

Oliver’s focus will include the delivery of high profile events across the corporate, agency and association sectors. In particular, Oliver will continue the Barbican’s trend for bringing together commercial business and the arts to create unique events that deliver a long term return on client investment.

Barbican Head of Sales, Jackie Boughton said: “Since Oliver joined the Barbican three years ago, he has had a significant impact of the development of client relationships and subsequent new business. He continually looks for new routes to market, opportunities and sectors to exploit and our hosting of Wikimania in September this year – one of the Barbican’s highest profile events in 2014 – is testament to his ambition and talent. This promotion is well deserved and I look forward to working more closely with him as he grows into this new role.”

The Barbican is also currently recruiting for additional sales roles.
