The Cultural Association of Tholaria – Amorgos and Aegialis Hotel & Spa are pleased to invite you to the 15th Amorgos Convention of Culture & Tourism – “YPERIA 2017” and 8th Amorgos Film Festival which will be held on the Greek island of Amorgos from the 25th to the 30th of Octobe2017

The Convention aims to promote the culture and sustainable tourism, to preserve the environment locally and internationally, to promote Amorgos, the Cyclades Region and Greece.

The main goal of Amorgos Film Festival is to set up an international platform encouraging global tourism through audio-visual media.

The Topic of “15th Amorgos Convention of Culture & Tourism” is: “Cinema – A Challenge for local Promotion & Economic Development”  and will inspect subjects such as:

  • Film Commission – A tool of Attraction for International Productions
  • The Role of Cinema Festivals for word wide promotions  – As CIFFT case
  • Film tourism in Greece: The economical & legal possibilities for investing in a film production in Greece ”
  • Film Academy/seminar for future producers and film makers.

The 8th Amorgos Film Festival –on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the film “Big Blue  is dedicated to the French director Luc Besson for making Amorgos famous and known around the world.

This year the Amorgos Film Festival has the privilege to be an official member of  CIFFT (Comité International des Festivals du Film Touristique.). CIFFT is a Festival Committee, with currently 16 Tourism Film Festival Members around the globe. Its purpose is to maintain and encourage the consciousness of audio-visual work in the international tourism industry.

All evening screenings and lectures will be open to the public so that the inhabitants of Amorgos as well as visitors have the chance to participate and draw information on current developments in the areas of culture and tourism.
