Bucharest in southern Romania is the capital and economic heart of the country. The most characteristic building is the huge Parliament Palace from the time of communism with 1,100 rooms. In the nearby Lipscani quarter there is a dynamic nightlife as well as the tiny Romanian Orthodox church of Stavropoleos and the 15th century palace of Curtea Veche, where Prince Vlad III resided.

Kos is one of the islands of the Greek Dodecanese and is known for its many sandy beaches. It has impressive Greek and Roman landmarks, especially in and around the city of Kos. The port city is characterized by the fortress Neratzia from the 15th century. South of the fortress lie the ancient Agora ruins with a temple, a shrine and preserved columns.

Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands between England and France. The autonomous crown property of the United Kingdom with its mixture of British and French culture is known for its beaches, coastal footpaths, valleys and historic fortresses.
