Position site to excel in growing Indian online travel market

NEW DELHI, LONDON AND DALLAS, November 23, 2009: Aman Travels Limited, a New Delhi-based travel company, has tapped Pegasus Solutions to power its online hotel booking site www.lasthotelroom.com. Through Pegasus’ UltraDirect® connection, lasthotelroom.com will now offer India’s $8.2 billion travel market direct, real-time access to more than 90,000 hotels worldwide.

Housing the largest collection of electronically bookable hotels, Pegasus offers Aman a distinct advantage in establishing lasthotelroom.com as the go-to site for online shoppers in the region. Pegasus’ UltraDirect provides lasthotelroom.com fast, immediate confirmation of booking and cancellation requests, as well as the ability to access to negotiated rates, according to Deepak Narula, managing director of Aman Travels Limited.

“Our consumer-facing site, lasthotelroom.com, gives shoppers a simple and easy way to reserve quality rooms at the best rates. These selective shoppers also expect immediate responses and confirmation while shopping online, which is why we’ve opted for leading technology powered by Pegasus,” added Narula.

The agreement serves as an extension to Aman’s long-standing relationship with Pegasus. Earlier this year, Aman Travels became the official sales representative for Pegasus’ representation service, Utell® Hotels & Resorts; selling Utell’s more than 11,000 member hotels to local and regional travel agencies, travel management companies (TMCs), corporations and consortia groups in India. Aman is also a long-time Pegasus financial services customer, using the company’s market-leading commission processing services to pay travel agents booking hotels sold by Aman.

“India is one of the fastest-growing outbound travel markets in the world. The country has more than a billion inhabitants, and research shows gross domestic product increasing in excess of 8% each year,” said Ric Leutwyler, chief marketing officer for Pegasus Solutions. “Expanding the strength of our relationship with Aman Travels enables us to extend the option of accessing 90,000 of the world’s hotels to those booking travel in India through sites like lasthotelroom.com.”
