One of the world’s most important international music events will take place in Copenhagen from 28 October – 1 November.
WOMEX is a major, intercultural music event which combines a congress with a trade fair and festival and takes place over five days every October. WOMEX is the most important international professional market of world music of every description, bringing together professionals from the worlds of folk, roots, ethnic and traditional music.
The international fair will feature concerts, conferences and screenings of documentaries and, according to the UNESCO Global Alliance for Cultural Diversity, ‘It contributes to networking as an effective means of promoting music and culture of all kinds across frontiers.’
Around 3,000 industry participants, 350 international artists, and 350 international journalists from 100 countries are expected, along with a large public attendance.
Copenhagen will host WOMEX in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
