Following last month’s launch of London 2012’s search for specialist volunteers, it is now the turn of the general public to sign up to become a “Games Maker” during the 2012 Games. London is looking to recruit up to 70,000 volunteers for its Games.

They will work in areas as diverse as transport, Village management, language services and sustainability. However, if you’re applying as a generalist volunteer, don’t worry about not having any previous experience, as full training will be provided by the organisers.

Have You Got What It Takes?

If you’re not sure you’ve got what it takes to be a volunteer at London 2012, why not visit London’s volunteer website and learn more about the eligibility rules for volunteers, the positions available, the values that London 2012 is looking for, and even take the London 2012 Games Maker challenge!

Seen And Done It

While volunteering at the Games often requires a large commitment of time and energy, many volunteers in the past have felt that it was more than worth the personal investment. Check out the comments of Roman Blaha (Vancouver 2010), Zhang Jiayu (Beijing 2008), Claire Gentils (Torino 2006), and Aberra Aguegnehu (Athens 2004). If you think you’ve got what it takes and you’re up for the challenge, then apply and maybe we’ll see you in London in 2012!
