The first individual appearance in Athens of top Russian soprano Maria Guleghina will be a major artistic event. This famous opera singer will be appearing at the Megaron Athens Concert Hall on Friday 24 September accompanied on piano by Massimiliano Bull, a permanent member of La Scala in Milan. Maria Guleghina comes to Athens on the heels of triumphant appearances as Turandot at the Metropolitan Opera, the Arena di Verona and the Zurich Opera.

Guleghina is among the leading performers of her generation, having played mostly dramatic roles of the operatic repertory. “Cinderella of Russia” and “vocal miracle” are just some of the phrases that have been used to describe her in the international media.

Her long career has included appearances at the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Covent Garden, the Arena di Verona, the Paris Opera, Wigmore Hall, Suntory Hall and the Mariinsky Theatre. She has also performed at the opera houses of Moscow, Tokyo, Osaka, São Paulo, Hong Kong and elsewhere. Each performance is a major success and is followed by rave reviews. “After one of her performances, one can feel and experience the mysterious ability of music to reach the depths of the human heart,” wrote the Metropolitan Opera Review.
