Just 1/3 of the “potential Egyptian” tourists travelled to other countries in March. Such results were announced by ATOR Analytical Service.

According to received data the total passenger traffic of the Russian air companies increased by 8% in March 2011 in comparison with the same period of last year. In March and in February as well, the number of the passengers of the international flights decreased in comparison with same period of last year (without CIS countries). Certainly, it happened due to the lack of the flights to Egypt in February and March. Just to remind, the flights to Egypt resorts have been recommenced only early in April 2011.

The passenger traffic of the Russians on the international flights (without CIS countries) decreased by 8.7% in March 2011 in comparison with March 2010 and amounted to 1 301 000 passengers. According to the expert estimates of ATOR Analytical Service, on condition that the dynamics of January 2011 remains the same, the outbound market lost about 230 thousand potential Russian tourists in March 2011 and air industry lost 460 thousand potential passengers of international flights.

Taking into consideration that 300 thousand Russians visited Egypt in March 2010, it’s possible to come to conclusion that there were no any equal alternative for the tours to Egypt in March 2011. Just 1/3 of the potential tourists of Egypt travelled to other countries in March 2011.

According to the results of the first 3 months of 2011, the total growth of the number of the passengers of the international flights amounted to 4.8%. The total number of the transported passengers of the Russian air companies increased by 6.9% in March 2011 in comparison with March 2010 and amounted to 3 895 000 people. The occupancy of the passenger seats decreased by 1.6% in March and amounted to the average indicator of 73.3%.

The TOP 5 air carriers in number of the transported passengers remained the same: Aeroflot, Transaero, Sibir, UTair and GTK Rossiya. During the first 3 months of the year the leading 5 companies transported 6 615 500 passengers of domestic and international flights (share of 59.4%). www.atorus.ru
